Hello, friend.
It can go wherever you want it to go, remember that for a current to flow, there must be a complete circuit. For organization's sake it is generally put at the very beginning of a circuit but this is not always possible, if you want to control different lights etc. As far as the physical location. I would recommend a small switch on the back, where the CD tray used to be.
Can you post a link to that diagram you're talking about?

I am having trouble finding a small enough switch for my led's. I know the diagram for the posative and negative, but how would I incorperate a switch into the circut so I can turn the leds on or off? And does anyone have a good link for a small enough switch??

Something like this should work:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-Pcs-x-2-Position-DPDT-2P2T-Panel-PCB-Mini-SMD-Slide-Switch-6-Pin-0-5A-50V-DC-/360485309384?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item53ee994bc8#ht_1999wt_1270

If you look around on some electronics whole-seller websites, you might be able to find something even smaller.
