After market XB1 shells not fitting...
« on: April 28, 2015, 09:15:09 PM »
im having trouble with these aftermarket shells.

Every time I put them together, there's always a huge gap right here.

Also, the mic port isn't lined up properly.

Now I understand aftermarket shells are :censored:, but is there a work around? A fix?

I've tried Dremeling down / sanding down all around it, but once those screws are in it seems to pop up every time.

Any insight is appreciated.

the mobo is not going down enough in the bottom shell. find out what is holding it up. the mic port must lign up or you will have these issues.

aftermarket shells are crap. I have not found any good ones yet.

So good to know I'm not the only one.

Yeah I noticed that was the problem too.

It seemed to help if I used the skeleton thing that comes with the shell.  But sometimes they don't come with one.

Have you tried shaving down the area that's pushing up? If so, which area?

Thanks for the reply!

Some of the aftermarket shells have a chunk of plastic on the front faceplate in the center down towards the bottom. This could be what is hanging it up. I've found that it also helps to squeeze the mic port area together when closing it up and screwing the bottom first and then the top.
It also could be that the paint warped the shell and the center is just permanently higher.
