« on: June 08, 2021, 10:09:55 AM »
Hi, need some help with a xbox controller, motherboard 1708. When i use the controller with USB everything works fine but when y try to use it with battery it turn on but get off just i stop pressing the on/off button.

I've been checking the board and following the trace but i don't find anything strange.

The schematics for the 1708 are in the 1708 thread in the pinned topics.

I'd start by checking the top board out, around D26, R7, J1p9, Q8 and Q9 as well as all of the traces, vias and anything that connects to them.
Screwing up is one of the best learning tools, so long as the only thing you're not learning is how to screw up.

Pardon my ignorance, what is J1p9?
I have this exact same issue and I'm relatively new here.

J1 is the connector, p9 is pin number 9 of that connector, so J1p9. ;)

Ok so I checked and its fine. I need to lurk more in the forums as I'm pretty sure this issue I'm having has been solved a lot of times before.

Hello, just wanted to thank you for the info on this thread, it saves one of my controllers which, while on batteries, would only stay on if the power button was constantly pressed down. It was a scratch on the line between R7 and D26, fixed with a wire between them.
