JDM-055 R2 shorted to ground
« on: April 30, 2023, 09:34:23 AM »
Hello everyone,

I am having problems with my R2 button. When I connect it to pc it is always pressed down. I've checked flex board and all the resistive values are ok.
Next, when I checked the R2 and 2R pins they were both shorted to ground. Board is completely clean and I didn't see anything that can short the pins. I've also checked almost every resistor and cap for a potential short. I have no idea how to fix it.
Any help would be really appreciated !  :hifive:
Sorry for vertical photos.

Interesting. There aren't any caps or resistors on those lines, they do pretty straight runs to the MCU, only jumping around the layers is all and going thru 4 vias each.

Have you tried pressing the Reset button on the bottom there? With it powered up. If that does nothing, then the MCU has most likely gotten screwed up internally somehow.
Screwing up is one of the best learning tools, so long as the only thing you're not learning is how to screw up.
