Razor install tutorial (not spam)
« on: November 16, 2007, 10:45:41 AM »
ok i know im a n00b but i know how to install a razor so i thought id show you guys who are struggling :D

the solder points on the razor are as follows -
1: is the ground
2: is the up/triangle button
3: is the right/ square button
4: is the down/ x button
5: is the left/circle button

http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/1216/razorinstall1copyba8.jpg

once u have that soldered up you then have to solder to the powerboard:

https://www.acidmods.com/tutorials/images/joysolderpoints.jpg

       (same as a2d)

once thats done you now need to assemble the nub: (it is quite hard to explain this)

basically you take the nub apart and keep the spring, the top part of the analog and the part that the analog slides in. You then have to assemble this together until it snaps into place and ur done.

but the best method i think is to find some copper tape and elastic bands and stick the copper tape on the bottom of the part which the bumpy top part of the analog stick goes on to. so all u have is your razor board, the bumpy nub top and the part that anchors in with copper tape on the bottom. You then have to dremel small grooves into the corners of the ground on each side so that the elastic bands slot in and over to make the nub self - centering. Once thats over youre done apart from cutting faceplate. To cut the faceplate the best atacchment is the high speed pointed tip attachment. You then get a ruler, and where the orignal nub hole is you measure the diameter and how far in from the faceplat it is. You then get a pair of compasses and make their widt half of the diameter of the circle you measured (radius) and scratch into the faceplate where tho hole should be. Once thats done you should have full installed your second nub :D enjoy

please post comments and feedback as i want to know what you guys think of my tutorial :)

PS: i dont know how to resize images if theyre too big :(

at the moment no haha...i know i probably sound like a liar but i actually have to redo my board. my neutral conector to the board is starting to come off...plus i have to get thinner copper clad. but i could try to get some pics up of what i have completed and how it basically all goes together. once i get my thinner copper clad and install than one try to get a video up.... sound good? i've been busy as some people probably noticed...or not haha....but yeah i've had a lot on my plate the past month of Nov.

do you have to remove your DC IN? cant you just move it somewhere else, maybe to the side of the psp?

Yes, you will have to remove your DC IN for some room under faceplate. For to charge you will have to mod your psp with the USB charge mod.
However you can move it elsewhere, but i have no idea how to. Some people did it, like Solitary. https://www.acidmods.com/forum/index.php?topic=12376.0

ok so on to the new rules, i PWN this place and i am also king.

ok now seriously, please refrain from making silly posts or off topic posts like asking for someone else's dogs name. this is a PSP specific forums and it is intended to stay that way.
now heres a couple of basics, i call them the 10 commandments:
1- Please use the search link at the top of the page to answer your questions, if that does not work, then try Google. post your question if you still have not found the answer on either one of these.
2- look at the guides for help. theres one for almost every mod made yet! People put a lot of time and effort into making these easy to understand so use them, they do help
3- Everyone READ THIS it will help you out in the forums.
4- no profanity, if you want to prove your point badly enough, use   for it, FLAMING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. all flaming posts will be deleted no matter how on topic it is. be nice to each other, and any multi flamers will be told to an administrator to be BANNED.
5- stay on topic
6- help other just like you would like to be helped
7- don't bring up old topics, unless you are updating on to them
8- no talk about m-o-d-c-h-i-p-s as they are illegal in most countries.
9- no illegal things as a wireless cracking hardware or something that opens all doors to every car in the world   (actually pm me if you can do the second one   )
10- have fun modding your psp!!

any suggestions are welcome. im here to listen and help
