Modded Guitar Hero Guitar for PS3
« on: November 30, 2007, 03:27:24 PM »
Ok where do I begin.. I wanted a guitar with a LCD so you can see the chords pass by your hand as you are playing so what I did was take a 7" LCD and place it into the guitar. Well now I needed some way to get the video from the PS3 to rhe guitar and the big tv at the same time. So the solution to this was to take a video controler board and hack into peices to fit it inside the guitar.

Seeing as that was not enough and because the LCD took up the space where the strumer resided and there was no way to strum the guitar I decided to add a magnetic swith under the body to allow me to play the gutar with a magnetic pic.

Well that resolved the issue of playing the guitar but all I really have is just a guitar with a LCD sure it is playable and looks really cool but that just isn't enough to call it an AcidMods modded rock guitar. So I thought "you know what would be cool cyber? what if we add a touch panel to it." I always talk to myself when im modding. it keeps me insane.

So with that I added a touch screen that allows you to controle the wammy bar by sweeping you finger across the touch panel.

Now I know alot of you guys are wondering where are all the LED's and the music mod chip well I have to leave somthing for F00.. Ok so you waited long enough here are the pictures. Video will be posted monday..

This is phase one of this project later I plan on placing optics on the lcd so the guitar will be able to play itself..

Here is the finished Guitar I put some of the stickers that came with the guitar just to give it a little flavor.

Here is a close up of the final guitar.

Here is the guitar with the 7" LCD, touch panel, magnetic switch, video in and video out

Here is one of a few face plates I plan on making for this guitar

This is what it look like about half way through the modding process since I forgot to take a picture befor I closed it up and I never plan on reopening it again since it is a rats nest inside there..

Here it is with the video on... I know it is the 360 dashboard and this is the PS3 guitar hero guitar but it is so much easier to chand the video on the 360 from HDMI to A/V.

Here is a close up of the LCD man the thing is Pretty..

Here is the original concept art....

Rumor has it if you stum up to 88 MPH the flux capasitor will engage and you will be transported to the year 1988.. Hmmm damn I wish I knew how to play Guitar Hero I will do my best this weekend to make a video of me killing the cat but you can be sured in the hands of a professional this thing will rock the piss out of any other guitar hero guitar out there...

oh, ok.

I could see this as a guitar you sit down to play, instead of standing up.

Hi Im glad some of you are passonate about the mod and its praticality. I did not intend to start a flame war. if you read the article closely it states that phase two of the project is to add oprics to the LCD two measure the resistence of the colors passing the LCD and ultumatly use a programmable IC to have the guitar play itself. What point doe all this serve in the grand scope of world peace. Absolutly no point at all just wondered to my self a few weeks ago since I have no dexterty at all could I use my electronics skills be able to play a game.

Thanks,
CyberPyrot
