Lighted Buttons
« on: December 26, 2007, 02:25:26 PM »
Could someone give me a tutorial on how to put leds in my a,x,y,b buttons and the center silver button.  I saw someone on the post pics of your 360 thread with it and it looked awesome.

Most people just get the light kit with certain controller shells. But all it is is drilling a hole in the buttons, putting an led in,and wiring them to + and -.
Once I get some leds and the torx screwdriver,I'll make a tut.

I did the mod, I wouldnt do it again, thats how bad it is. If I were you, I'd just go buy one of the shells with the lights allready in them cause it takes so much time to get everything to work right... and alot of wires!

What kind of leds did you use? 3.5mm, smt, or what?

I'm pretty sure 0603's would work better than the 3 or 5 mm leds...

I used a mixture of all them. The 3 and 5mm leds work super well for me. I also used some smt leds. I I used 1 blue for the X and 1 Red for the B button and they dont work so well, its like they are crapping out for some reason cause they are not bright at all, they were when I first put em in but next time I'm puttin in some 3mm. Just a heads up for any of you wanting to do this mod so you dont have to redrill the buttons out like I had to...

Hopefully when I get round to buying my Smooth Black Controller Case replacement, I'll also be putting in some LEDs.

was really looking forward to this mod, i guess im gonna kill it!

i have correct leds, and good skills, but is it really messed up?
do the buttons stop functioning properly?

i have really thin wire too, but this seems like a :censored: load of work, as for the drilling i have lost my drill so im even more screwed!

edit: for the ring light on the 360, i want to replace led's but it seems to me that is impossible as u need to run a jumper wire to connect the red led, and put it at an angle and stuff, am i right?

PM me to let me know if you like my SIG!! lol!! or any suggestions or if it breaks forum rules!
