i'd say 700W Minimum, if its gonna be an OC'ed quadcore with multiple drives etc. then 1000w would be a good choice.

and if you get a GOOD 1kw PSU youl never need another one (unless when you build a new computer you plan on keeping your old one)

Get a 900w or 1000 watt supply and be sure they're good quality.

Thanks guys for all your input! He is going to run a core 2 E6420 probably with a 2.8oc, so I think a 700w psu should be enough? "Yeah I know he is spoiled, But he gets straigt A's unlike his older brother" hahaha Thanks for all your help

I've got 42 high school and 22 college credits and I'm a senior in high school with a 94.4~ average and I never got any gifts that were that expensive for it...

hell, my parents told me to get a job for college because they weren't going to support me 100% financially

luckily I got scholarships so I have ~$50,000 of my own cash to screw around with LOL

I was just surfing the web and I came across this 5.25 drive bay 325w power supply http://www.xoxide.com/ultra-power-partner-350w.html
This should be enough to power to 2 cards correct me if I am wrong and just use the 500w psu to power the mobo and accessories.

Lol! 325watts is not enough for 2x 8800GTs.

I was doing some research and saw that the 8800gt only consumes 110 watts.  Here is the web site http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html?art=MTQxMCwxLCxoZW50aHVzaWFzdA==

I guess I was wrong  :faint: Well at least I could power one card and the 500w psu can power the other one right?

Thanks for your help

yeah, but if everything else is going to be good enough to use the 2 GT's, then you will need like 700W, then i'd still go over the top for the next upgrade....

Go over the top with your power supply like matt said because when you do upgrades in the future you don't want to have to replace your power supply because of insufficient power.
