Verizon cell phone warrentys?

Does opening up your Verizon cell phone void any warrentys with them?Will they still accept it to trade in?
My contract lets me get a new phone every like year and half and I can get a new one in May, but I seriously wanna open this up, but would they still let me trade in after it's been opened?

i dont know if it was verizon or not but my buddy dropped his in a lake and the lake washed off the his warranty label, the sticker was still their but the label was gone. so he had to pay extra when his plan was up
