i think bose is over rated, but the noise canceling is a nice feature, makes air plain rides so much quieter.

Bose is definitely just a big company with an even bigger name.
Take for instance car systems, my dad's car has the upgraded Bose system for just $1200 more (his boss bought the car), yet my crappy car with 2 visonic 6x9's, 2 polk 5-1/4's and 2 rockford fosgate 8 inch woofers make his car sound like mono speakers in a movie theater...

If you want noise canceling, get some in ear head phones and a pair of these...

The Crusher ones? Because hell I'd really enjoy some subwoofer action in my ear

(Lol note for you nubs, Crusher got subwoofers installed in them..)

Skullcandy are over rated fashion crap, Even the Stock Apple ones are better, infact, even the PSP Ones are better.

For Quality i usually go for Sony's street range, nice over-in ear system, good bass.

The problem with skullcandy is only the crushers reall retain any bass at all, they are pretty damn fine, but lets face it who wants something the size of a Xbox 360 controller reciever on there headphone line? (the subwoofer)

i jsut tried something really cool though with my current setup, i unplugged my bass equilizer pedal (thats for real bass guitar btw)

and ran my headphones through it (just the stock apple ipod ones) and boosted the low end and....wow

like i listened to some rock songs and i swear i could almost hear the bassist hitting the strings

korn? slap never sounded so fine

dance??? BASS DRUMS BLOWING MY EAR DRUMS

Sure its not portable, but it was a cool find in my eyes :D

the small ear bud type head phones will never be able to produce any decent base sound. you need a larger speaker to get lowere tones.

QFT

but even then, not all larger speaker headphones do it well, some of them need a subwoofer to sound good :P

seriously though, the basic phillips headphones do better without one, like the kind that come with some of there stereo systems, not just at bass, but overall sound quality
