use iphone without sim card?

hey guys I'm trading my two el cheapo paintball guns for an iphone this saturday  and since I don't have att (verizon) is there a way just to use the iphone as an ipod? I know I won't be able to call with it, but I don't care I just want to use it as an ipod.

yup, just fake activate and its the same as an ipod touch. although if u want u can unlock it urself(very easy) and use ur own gsm sim

he says it comes with a blank gsm, do I just try and activate it trough itunes?

no. if u try to activate by itunes it asks you to register with the company of the sim.
download ziphone, then follow the prompts it gives you.

and if your wondering you don't have to use ziphone, its just wat i could remember and have used in the past

i use the pwnage tool as in my eyes its by far and away the best form of unlock, activate, jailbreak for 1.1.4. i used it on my iphone

I wouldent suggest using one program on your iPhone after youse already used the other. Some ofthose program are designed not to work well with others so you can only use one.

I'm fairly sure you can activate it without a SIM, I'm not sure how though. And I'm almost 100% sure you can't use it with Verizon, they use a different standard of...uh...something that's different o_o

They use the GSM network. That's what's different. Or something like that.

You can use a iPhone without a sim card. It them it so t make calls it will only be a glorified iPod touch. I doubt it will work with verizon if vefizon doesn't use sim. Adds as the sim card is what tells the iPhone what network and carrier it is on. But I would recommend a pwnd iPhone to anyone and if ou have a 3g o e I suggest not pwning it past the 2.0 firmware unless told it's ok by the iphone e dev team
