I got a free Gamecube....but.....

Everything works fine doe abut but then after a while it starts to skip an then give me an error to shut off the console and check the instruction booklet. But I don't have one. So anyway. Is there a way to fix this or do I have to buy a new drive?

I had the same symptoms when there wasn't C311 resistor on the laser PCB.
