Stupid Screws
« on: July 24, 2008, 07:53:40 PM »
Hey all,

I'm having some real trouble getting the last two tri-wing screws out. I'm wondering if it's just the screwdriver or the screws themselves and if anyone has some helpful advice on how to get the screws out. See pic for the ones I'm talking about:

Thanks!

if you can find a small pen that can fit in the hole you can melt the pen (after taking the ink thinge out) and immediately put it in the hole over the screw and wait for it to cool and presto you have a screwdriver just for that screw.

Whoa, can you elaborate a bit? I'm not quite sure what you mean by melting the pen. I have the means to do it, but not sure what I'd be melting

tri wing screwdrivers seem to work particularly well on tri-wing screws

Worked alright on 2/4 of the screws. The other 2 won't come up. I've tried two different tri-wing screwdrivers and a tiny flat-head as well. I'll try the melted pen idea if someone can explain it a little more.

1st find a small plastic pen that can fit in the hole
2nd take the ink out of the pen
3rd melt the tip of the pen
4th while melted place the pen in the hole and over the screw
5th let the pen cool and harden over the screw
6th after the pen has COMPLETELY hardened turn pen like normal screwdriver
7th repeat for each screw
