DS Power Issue?

I bought a new replacement shell for my DS, since the old one was in poor condition. Also I bought a new top screen, since the old one's ribbon cable was broken.

So the shell was missing a button, so I took it off and put the old one back on. I didn't bother putting the top screen (or top shell) back on at all since it was broken. (this includes the microphone and sound cable)

So basically I have just the bottom half at this point. I turn it on, the screen doesn't turn on, and it turns off after a few seconds.

Is this because I don't have a top screen plugged in? Also, do you think there's a problem with the bottom screen?

I found a similar topic, but it was rather old so I didn't want to bump it back to the front page. >.<

Anyways, I'll try the top screen later on. Probably once I get my RMA completed for my shell. Thanks.
