Portal without internet?
« on: August 23, 2008, 03:08:45 PM »
I thinking about buying portal, but I heard that you have to have internet access to play. because the only time I want to play is in the car with my laptop, this would set me back. keep in mind I will be buying the cd, I just need to know if there is a crack/hack to do it.

From what I understand you have to be logged into Steam to play any games, and you need Steam to play Portal. No idea if there are any hacks/cracks out there, but I wouldn't be willing to compromise my PC security to try one lol.. Not to mention you'll get your steam account banned for doing so (in turn losing all the games you payed for).

Yea just play it in offline mode of steam. Great game by the way. A little short but still very nice.

Guess i'll give an answer now while its still revived... No you do not need to be online to PLAY the game you just need to be online when you first install/activate it after that its all hunkey dorey.  & btw really shouldnt bother filipinofryrice for bumbing the thread after 4 days.  But, i think everyones a lil confused so oh well...
