« on: October 29, 2008, 11:49:36 AM »
i was wondering if it was possible to take a slim screen and put it in a Fat? would the mobo accept it? i know i would have to redo the ribbon cable but thats ok.

I posted this questioned a while back and techinically yes you can put it in the ribbin cables have the same amount of lines as the phat one but smaller, so you'd have to be an extremely good solderer or somehow connect the slim's wires to something that can connect into the fat psp.

Even you where going to solder wich is no easy task

It wouldnt work

All that, and the screens take different programming to work. So apart from the intense soldering skills, you would need some good software engineering background too.

Do you guys have a datasheet or link to where you are getting this information? I am not doubting you, I am interested because I was never able to find a datasheet or much technical info for the slim's LCD.

....Why? It's the same damn thing. You would go through all the effort and probably fail. If you are a soldering god and managed to do it, though, then the screen would be all buggered and probably wount fit in right, and the ribbons would be stretched.....It'd be a mess.

And, Ive tried an LCD swap just even between a TA-079 and TA-086 mobos, and the old screen with the newer mobo had a very dim backlight. It was still on, just very low, and needed a flashlight to see properly, so I would assume the Slim screen would be buggered in a fat PSP.

It is just guesswork, he hasn't measured the screen voltages or anything.
