transfer music from your ipod to your computer?

is it possible with out buying a program. my music hard drive crashed so now i dont want to start over from nothing

It depends on the iPod... no matter what you can get it off though.

On regular iPods you need to enable disk use and hidden folders, and browse to one of the folders on the iPod (With a bunch of folders inside of it labels F00, F01, etc) and that's where your music is.

On the touch and iPhone, you'd need to SSH into your iTouch/iPhone and go to the right folder and get your music off. The folder is all based on version, though, cuz Apple is a bunch of jerks and change folder paths in a lot of firmwares.

yeah i have a 60gb video i did that just moved it to my computer just encase my music was deleted from my ipod... i can get the music to play but its in a compressed format so my playlist is just numbers

It's not compressed, iTunes just renames them.

You're screwed with names, just right click and rename it...>_>
What do you mean you can't find the songs, you already said you got them back.

They're in the iTunes_Control hidden folder on the iPod. There's nothing more to it.

*sigh*...
Copy the music onto your harddrive.
Erase your iTunes library file.
Go into iTunes and ADD the folders to your library.
It will name them accordingly in your library.
