« on: November 29, 2008, 01:40:09 AM »
i want to upgrade the RAM in my pc. I currently have 2x256mb in there, but i was wondering could i have 1x256 and 1x1024 or do you have to match the ram across the slots and have 2x512 or 2x1024?

No. You need to buy exactly the same RAM modules. So the same size, make and model. Hope that helps :P

Get all the same to maximize your Mobo performance,

256 - 256 - 256 - 256

512 - 512 - 512 - 512

1G - 1G - 1G - 1G

...

Oso FSB, DDR2/3

Hey I know what I'm talking about! What I mean is it's OPTIMIZE when using the same, It still can run of course everyone know it!

Ugh no guys.

Find out the max you can have for your motherboard, the standard, and the speed of it.
Then you can find out what you can get.

You can't just go out and get any old RAM.
And, you don't HAVE to buy the same of any RAM, only the same type.
Don't post if you don't know what you're talking about guys.

Make sure it's the speed you can use and the type you can use or all you did was buy it for no reason.

Your BIOS Limits your RAM. Some Limit 512mb, 2gb,4gb,8gb, If you know your way around you Can Change it.
