Analogue/d-pad switch mod.

Well I want to try to make a Play Station style 360 controller.

Anyway I know how to move the analogue stick but the d-pad...

How do I move the buttons for it? I could use tact switches but where do I solder on the board?

Also I was thinking I would use a PS1 style d-pad too...

I was thinking of buying this because it said to somewhere here...
Anyway is this is thin piece of rubber for painting or a whole plastic shell piece?

the link you posted is a new complete controller shell, just the shell (no buttons, or circut board, just a shell) and yes it needs to be painted.


bondo will crack, follow the tut, use fiberglass, if you try to do it all with bondo, you may get it to work, but it wont last long before it cracks away

bondo is for fixing dents and small holes, if you try to fill the left stick hole and face buttons with bondo you are asking for trouble. bondo makes a product called bondo glass that would be better than reg bondo. but a fiber glass mat and resin would be best. then bondo tho top it off and smooth it out.  if you use bondo it wont last long. I am going to drop it the first time I play with it and there goes the bondo.

The famous foo foo controller mod.  This mod is probably a 7 out of 10 on the difficulty scale.  Making the body modification is the easy part, moving the analog also easy.  It is moving the d-pad that will be difficult as you need to figure out how to make the buttons work in there new locations.

using striped wires will work if you lay them parrallel where the new button locations land. or you can trim your buttons and use tact switches underneath the buttons in there new location.
