Psp 1001 with internal cr-3100 problems
« on: December 19, 2008, 07:16:01 PM »
Hey guys im not really sure where to put this but im sure someone on this board could give me a little help but, i have done it ive internalized a photofast cr-3100 in a psp 1001 or psp phat and it works great i have 2 16 gig adata sdhc memory cards installed and formatted, its great it registers as 30 gigs worth of storage, however my problem is that sometimes the psp has almost a brain fart and when i shut it down or put it into sleep mode the memory stick light starts flashing and the psp forgets it has a memory stick in it, but after a few restarts and power downs it registers again,  i have cfw 5.00 m33-4 i made sure i was super careful to reinforce the ribbon connections on the adapter when i pulled it out of the casing i was also very careful with the card adapter itself, has anyone ever installed a cr-3100 in a psp phat and can anyone think of a reason why it would do it in a phat

Does it take a long time for it to power up?

Hmmm, that's very strange.
Does that only happen during sleep mode/OFF? What sdhc's are you using?

I don't have a Photofast-3100 (well, I'm planning on getting one), but try reformatting your cards? You could also run a Chkdsk (not sure if that'll help much though). Try using a different firmware and test it out (I'd suggest Hellcat's Recovery Flasher). If it works on a different firmware, I'm assuming it's 5.00m33-4 and not the actual adapter. If all else fails, maybe it's the adapter=/

Hope you find a solution.

For the mod off I internalized my photofast in my slim. When you turn the psp on and the light keeps blinking, just take out the memory "stick" ( not all the way, just so the light will stop)
Then put it back in
That may fix it

ok my progress has led me to a brick wall if someone out there knows more than i do please contact me but through numerous scans with windows check disk functions the drive has come up with no problems until i get to a certain point of around 21 gigs worth of stuff loaded up then check disk comes back with an error found, could it be that theres a limit to available storage ? i thought the cap was removed with custom firmware, also are the system specs of the phat not as good as the slim 2000 series? as for conditions the problems happens nothings really changed it happens at random, i dont remember where i read it but i recall reading the slim had more system ram? Moderators im sorry if this is going in the wrong direction with the post but im determined to find out why this is happening

I'm assuming you tried FAT or FAT32 and it still failed?

My last suggestion is to ask a friend to try out you adapter and see where that leads to. If it results as the same problems you have, I'm guessing it's the PSP 1001 capabilities (if you tested it out on a psp 1001). If it works on a slim without any problem, it could be the PSP 1001 models. If it works on both, then it may be just your PSP.

Good luck and I hope you find a solution.

it should still work in the phat, the cable isn't long enough to reach the back of the phat that's why they said it was only for the slim

i've never had a problem like this before, sounds messed up dude. it might be the memory cards as RoBot1ks and PhenomenalDesigns said. This mod does work with the psp phat, i've modded two phat with cr-3100. How did you hook it up to the psp? did you use the memory card adapter that came with the cr-3100 or have you directly soldered onto the MS port?

My slim looks exactly like that lol, Internal CR-3100 with a clear case, only regret is that I didn't take the time to do an led mod while it was open
