Weird problem! Help! - Nvm fixed. Thanks everyone!

Okay so I just wired up my soundboard to the switch, speakers, and 5v point. Although I'm terrible at modding, I think I managed to solder them on okay. However, whenever I put the wifi switch to connect the soundboard to ground pin, my powerled goes out and my soundboard get's hot. Could it be because I haven't wired leds up yet? I'll get pics up if you need them

First off those joints are outrageous  .

Strip the wires less and use a little flux on that resistor.

Only thing i could think of is a short is causing your psp to turn off.

Those joints are bad because I can't solder O_O my iron doesn't seem to get hot enough to melt solder unless the solder physically touches the iron, which results in... well you already see. As for shorts, it doesn't seem to turn my psp off, because when I turn the soundboard off the powerled instantly turns back on. I have no screen connected though so I'm uncertain. And I don't see any shorts on the mobo where I soldered. I'll retry my crappy joints and I'll check again.

i have the old thick iron with pencil tip, it takes awhile for it to warm up before i can use.
i suggest you do the same, tap alittle solder on the tip, if it spikes it is still too cold, give it a mintue, tap solder on it again and if it starts to smoke alittle and it starts to ball its ready, im guessing you dont have a voltage regulator for your iron, neather do i so suggest to give the iron some time to warm up.

also whip your tip against a very moist sponge to get ride of any old burned off solder, sence the mix of solder is 40/60 (tin/lead) tin tends to burn off fast or flake off.

if you clean it with a moist sponge it will make good contact and leave a clean solder which makes for a better soldering point...i took soldering classes...

some solder comes with built in flux, its alittle expensive then your normal solder but you can usually find them in radioshack.

Yeah.. It got so hot it almost burned me. I wonder if it still works. I suppose I'll figure out once I get my leds.

just use a voltimeter to test it

Gah I'm done with multimeters... They piss me off. And I covered it with electrical tape so I can't really test it anyway.
