sound reactive leds question
« on: January 02, 2009, 07:50:18 AM »
Can any1 give me a clear picture where to solder the wires?
Is there some kinda place on the motherboard or should I solder wires to directly to the speakers?
and how many leds can 1 speaker handle?

Just solder directly to the speaker connections on the mobo.

Yea you don't want to add too many. But the sound difference isn't very noticeable unless you have allot of leds.

Yeah, if  were you id make sure i had SOME solder skill, and also the pads for the speakers on the mobo lift REALLY easy so use flux if its heated for a second or 2 its gone.

Really? I didn't notice. As nooby as I am at soldering I managed to do it with no problems. But yeah I really recommend flux and some soldering skills. Flux is your friend. This is from personal experience without it.

Just use rossin core solder. And as for the pads coming off, I just use something like tweezers or a flat head screwdriver to hold it down while I solder the wire to it.

I just solder directly to speakers instead of the motherboard so I don't accidentally lift the pads.  :yess: Works great.

Yea that works. Just be careful not to melt your speaker though.
