PSP Slim Trigger Sound Mod Help.
« on: January 20, 2009, 01:13:39 PM »
What i am wanting to do is make a trigger mod in my psp with red leds. What i want is to get the 0603 leds with the wires already connected.

I have a few questions.

1. Can i disconnect the speaker from the psp? (Does the speaker have a ribbon cable that is easily disconnected to apply the mod)
2. Do i need any resistors or anything? Some tutorials say you need them, some dont.
3. I want to do it with minimal/no soldering. How much is generally soldered in this mod?

I would also like to be able to turn these leds on/off with the wifi switch. How much more difficult does it make this mod? Aso, can i add this into the mod later on?

If you could, could you give me a UK Link to anythin i will ned (LED's, Resistors, whatever (Just for the mod without connecting it to the wifi switch)

Thanks. This will be a big help.

Okay uh...

1. It just pops out. It's not connected with a ribbon cable or anything
2. Uh no clue, I've never used red before.
3. Well if you're doing it without the switch, then you just have to solder 2 leds into parallel, and then onto a speaker or speaker pads. So let's see... Solder two wires to each led, solder the negatives together and the positives together, solder the a resistor on, solder another piece of wire to the opposite side of the resistor, solder the positive and negative to the speaker. So like, 10 joints.

Excellent site:
phenoptix.co.uk

They ship worldwide too, but it's even better that you're in the UK :)

As for doing the mod with a wifi switch, it requires a bit more soldering, but it's quite a bit more complicated. You need to solder 6 wires, 1 led -, 1 to led +, 2 to speakers, 1 to wifi switch, and 1 to 5v point.
