PSP Internal Speaker Help
« on: January 28, 2009, 02:07:01 PM »
Hey, I installed a small speaker inside my umd door and I haven't gotten around to wiring it yet because I have a question. How can I wire it so the umd speaker i have would work with both the left and right speaker sound. I'd rather not have it only work with only one speaker.

The proper way to get stereo audio is to have one speaker hooked to the left and one speaker hooked to the right
I have never really tried hooking two power supplies to one speaker like that.
If I were to even try, I would experiment with different wiring setups. Both negatives; Both positives, one negative, one positive
Even if it does work, there is a chance the sound may be distorted(?)

put both positives and both negatives togeather and if it is not a really crappy speaker from like the dollar store it should be able to hold up and still have left and right speaker.

I'm wiring the small speaker to my original speakers. I'll do some experimenting tonight and post back results. :)

This speaker is really really good. http://mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=254-PS608-ROvirtualkey12800000virtualkey254-PS608-RO
It's thin enough to fit in the slim too.  :hifive:

If you do just hook both + and - of the internal speakers to the new one, you may want to consider this: place a diode on the + and - that leads to one of them. This will still allow the internal speakers to be stereo while having both connected to the new speaker.

I get my speakers from singing birthday cards. If I could find them on the net I will post a link

It says:
CPC-1
8Ω 0.5W

Yes they are. Unfortunately, the only way to show you how good they are is for you to buy one.  :yess:

All I have to say, is they are perfect for direct connect. You may be able to use an amp. I just never figured out the amp part.
