an idea for the my ds

my ds phat has been lying around lately while i been working on my psp so i thought i should do something with that too so i thought i should paint it. i got a template and i design a draft of what i want it to look like. all i really want to do is paint it to a carbon fiber like black and the gears of war logo on top of that.  the only thing is im not sure what i should do to paint it since i've never painted something like this before so I'm not to sure where to start  Any tips? Anyone done this before?
