Awesome! I Also saw a vid that if you manage to get your hands on a ps3 blu ray laser (Quite cheap suprisingly) you can use that

Its actually a blue laser Lol (Well, thats where blu ray must have come from)

I'll see about ordering a blue laser (btw the xbox 360 hddvd drive is blue too  :w00t:) and I'll try and add that one in too.

My current plan is do a 3in1 (maybe 4in1 if I can get a blue laser) with a white led, regular laser and a burning dvd laser.  I'll have a switch to change between the lasers and the led(s). I'll put it all inside a flashlight housing or make my own. 

I can't wait to take this thing camping now  :w00t:

Yeah, check out the sites dedicated to lasers they can usualy point you to some product sites that sell ir filters, cases, laser diodes, etc........

BTW do u know if you could get a IR light (Very powerful) and make it flash very fast, then showed it to an epeleptic, would it be possible for them to get a seizure?

update: okay I took apart my dvd burner and got the diode out okay,  I have it all soldered and ready to go into the casing.  I was able to test it with a pair of AA batteries and it worked great!  the only problem is it doesn't burn, but that can be one of two reasons:

1. I didn't have a battery clip so I was using my hands to secure the wires, so it was a poor connection
2. The batteries were old so they probably didn't have enough juice

either way I'm pleased that it's going good so far.  I'm going to pick up the housing at the post office tomorrow and finish this puppy soon.  I'll post pics when I get it done.
