switching faceplate and buttons, any advice?

switching out face and butttons on my psp.  really dont want to mess up my psp, is there any risk of that, if so how do i avoid?  iread disassemble psp tut, couldnt see pictures though, wouldnt load???

Basically here's how to do it. I'll explain as best I can.

There are two screw holes on the left trigger side of the psp. One is right below the trigger and the other is near the bottom by the headphone port. These both need to be removed to let the faceplate come off.

There are four screws inside the battery cover. You can see them with the battery and cover removed. There will be two silver ones towards the umd drive and two black ones towards the outside trim. One of the black screws will be under the warrenty sticker. Carefully peel it off to see it. The two black screws will need to be removed to let the faceplate come off. You don't need to touch the silver two at all for what you are doing.

Last there is a single silver screw in the middle of the trim on the bottom of the psp. This also needs to be removed for the faceplate to come off.

Once all are removed, you can carefully pull the faceplate off. The buttons will all be attached to the faceplate. Just pull off the rubbers that hold them in place, remove the old buttons, put the new ones in, and put the rubbers back on the same way that they came off. It's really pretty simple. Btw, the home bar buttons have no rubber to hold them in place so just put them in.

Then just put the faceplate back on and put all of the screws back in and your done.

NOTE: place a towel or somthing over the LCD of the psp when you have it apart. This will keep unwanted dust off of it. You could also put it in a ziplock bag.

Also, as long as you are careful, and you are confident with your hands, nothing bad should happen. A faceplate swap and buttons swap is very simple, and can be done in like, 5 minutes.

well i was using the wrong size screwdriver and stripped the head of the screw, any ways to fix that?

Yeah that would be of some help. Too bad whoever made the pictures can't count though. They said that there is six screws but in the pictures, and reality, there is only 5 screws.

your going to need super glue and acitone nail polish remover  put some super glue on the tip of ur screwdriver then push it againt the screw till its dries then you should be able to lighty get the screw out put dip the tip of the screwdrivr in the nail polish remover to disolve the super glue hope it works for you i have used this method before works great



there are 6 if you count the 2 small ones that screw into the lcd cage in the battery compartment

If you count those two silver LCD cage screws, there is seven so it's wrong either way.

But the superglue method works well.

Usually, I would use a drill or dremel to drill the stripped screws. Drill it till the top breaks off then use pliers to remove the rest of the screw.
