     my dads mate owns a tattoo parlour and will let me get a tattoo so this is what im going to get..

   

 it says "mum" and on my other wrist im going to get "dad"

Don't get a tat anywhere that may inhibit your chances of getting a professional job, especially if you are going into legal or medical fields.  When I get mine it'll be on my shoulder and back

Not 110%.. Maybe 75%  I know Cops who gets tattoos like every month. hes getting Sleeve tattoos Both arms. And My causin is a doctor The head of medicine at the hospital gets tattoos. and the guy is in his 50s. He had Both arms and neck done when he was a Resident.

EDIT. Also. When my sister worked at BlueShield of California, One of the Head Doctors (this is an office building most people say its bad to have tattoos as a job like his is hard to come by) He didn't ware a suite. he wore Flipflops and a tank top and Board shorts He has his whole body tattooed well not on his neck but no one cared... Tho he did ware a suite on his first day i was told.

I was already warned against it by several hospitals I plan to co-op/intern at that they will flat out reject me if I have any visible tattoos that aren't medical related or appropriately placed.  Some of the applications terminate as soon as you even claim to have a tat =/

I have a little story for you all..... My good friend growing up decided he wanted a shamrock tatoo on his wrist when he was 17yrs old.  His mother told him no way and that he needs to be older to make a decision like that. Anyway my friend is now 26yrs old and has no shamrock tatooed on him anywhere, he told me that he is so glad that his ma dukes put the hammer down on him and wouldnt let him get the ink he wanted at the time.  He does have some epic tribal tatoos on his arm and back now but he is thankful for not doing the shamrock on his wrist.

moral of the story: just because you think it is cool when your 17 or 18 doesnt mean you will think it is cool when you 26.

Some really cool designs in here. I must agree with Reaper tho, forearm and wrist tats may be a burden for someone to wear for the rest of your life.  I wouldnt tell someone not to get one, as tat sleeves are acceptable in most walks of life and sometimes look really awesome.  But what I do suggest is waiting until you are an established adult and then evaluate your situation.  At 18yrs old people are entering a defining period in their lives, and the next 3-5 yrs your world is going to change, you are going to change, your friends are going to change.  Dont let a little ink play a role in defining your life

well said chives ! Its very true guys, i've been meaning to get a tattoo for two years now, n i'm glad coz i've settled on something which i won't mind having for the rest of my life. Lower neck is a pretty safe position because it can be hidden under a shirt collar. I really won't recommend fore arms till we guys are settled and have a proper job so as to avoid any future problems.
