Gaminmg pc help

Hey everyone,
recently i got a few hundred dollars, and I decided that I was going to build a gaming pc.
i talked with Blackburn for a few hours and he gave me some recommendations n stuff, and this is basically what I have worked out so far. Pleas tell me what you think, and post links if you recommend any thing else :D.
Motherboard
Case
hard drive
Disk Drive
And I need help picking out the rest please, and yes I know I fail. Ive been out of the PC scene for quite sometime, and everything is different.. Like WTF is i7

Okay, well what are you wanting to do for a processor. And also how much ram do you want. How many graphics cards and how high end? Give us a push in the right direction =D

CPU: Q6600
Case: Antec 900
Hard Drive: Western Digital 640GB Blue or Black series.
DVD Drive: Samsung DVD-RW
RAM: G. Skill 2x2GB 800MHz
PSU: Antec or Corsair 500 watts or more
Graphics card: EVGA GTS 250 or better
CPU Heatsink: Xigmatek HDT-S1283
OS: Windows 7 Build 7100 RC(Free to use from microsoft)

My 2-cents: Don't go for i7. Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad are good enough for any gaming these days ^ those additional specs put up by psp339 are very good. I would go for Black series HDD, Corsair PSU (500-650 watts), and Zalman 9700 CPU heatsink and fan.

I have a Zalman 9700 and it's not that good. My friend has a Xigmatek and it cools a bit better.
