« on: July 16, 2009, 10:43:58 AM »

'Reise, Reise' Rammstein Theme with SM Rammstein Jewel on the rear.

'Barricade' Transformers with SM Decepticon Jewel on the rear, i want to find a way to have the red and blue LEDs alternate but i dont know how.

thoughts, i am making the 'Reise, Reise' but the 'Barricade may be for my friend if he gets me the stuff to do it.

Your going to want a pic for the police style lights. Im sure you can get the same effects with some timers, but a pic would make it easier.

Cool mock ups :D

The police style would be really cool and I agree with Jumbo do it with a pic.

If you know how to make a custom theme the opening instead of being the original or what have you. (Like mine is two girls saying "PSP") You should have it be a cop siren and have the lights flash at that point.

A quote from my own thread,
I'm just putting all of the leds on switches.

What you just inspired for an idea, was having the leds on an internal clock so that on a set interval the fade out and fade into the opposite color... I don't have a clue how I'd do that though.
You could do that sort of thing, except forget about the fading and just switch the colors back and forth.

tbh i wouldnt care, if they did its a credit to my ideas. would orange car paint work? with a lacquer on the top. would i need to sand to prime the surface?

lacquer on top? What do you mean? Anyway yeah orange car paint will work. Just remember to mask off the screen. Also, sanding it would be a good idea. Priming, too. On top of that, wash the thing with dish soap and warm/hot water.

Process for prepping:

Wetsand lightly with 800 grit sandpaper - just to roughen up the surface a bit and prepare it for painting
Wash it with dish soap and water
prime it (1-2 coats)

And then you would paint it.

Car paint already contains the lacquer,so there's no need to lacquer over it,just polish it up real good, and remember to wear a respirator, car paint contains what is basically super glue, and it can coat the inside of your lungs and basically drown you without water. This happened to my cousin but thankfully it wasn't too bad and the ambulance was there quick.
Yep you would definitely need to prime the surface, one thing I seriously recommend is sanding down all the edges of the faceplate/backplate.'Cos when yo coat it in paint it will be raised by a mm,and the backplate will also be raised by a mm,and so will the trim.So that's a 3mm offset, which would undoubtedly lead to the case not fitting.
Hope I helped.

About the Police switching light, if you can record a police siren and edit that sound for stereo sound where you can place the siren from left speaker to right speaker, IF you connect each led to each speaker.

That could work. You could also just get like a little cheap police car toy and use the pic out of it in the psp.
