add one more battery
« on: August 09, 2009, 06:24:58 AM »
Did somebody think about to add one more battery in PSP1000 after UMD driver removed, let's ignore the size of the battery first at this moment.

My idea like the pics shown, but I'm not sure if this plan can be done. Can any bro give me some clue?

any particular reason why you want to do this ? The psp would be too heavy imho.... Also , while possible , you'll have to use a switch to flip between the two. Afaik you can't use the two together.

haha.....I just want to use the room in the back as much as possible, meanwhile, making my machine looks like more "powerful", haha....now that, I can't use both batteries together, and I need a switch between them as you said, I have to abandon this idea. thank you.

you dont need a switch but you need the board out of the battery to use an internal one so that you can wire up the serial connection so the psp thinks it has a propper battery in.

you could also just wire the new batteries in parallel with the original one. this will not up the volts, but will increase the mah.

nonono, don't do that, only ever wire batteries in paralell if they are exactly the same.

i figured a way how i can make the battery detachable..in a way that i could easily swap

my oem battery to my nokia battery..i tried measuring the thickness of the 2 bl4 and

what i notice is the same thickness of the phats battery..i'll try if i can fit 2 bl4 to the

phat battery compartment..

what do you think of this guys..will this do?

there is a small circuit board in the psp battery, you need one of those to bae able to use any battery in the psp, otherwise it simply wont turn on, using the power cord is different as the psp checks that it is inserted by where the current flows through the psp but if you wire it up to that it would not be removable without a special connection.

Do you mean another one PSP battery? I'm afraid that's too big, and I just consider using some idle cellphone batteries.

hmmmm.. i never thought of needing the phats circuit board for this mod...i thought i

could run the cellphone battery direct to the + - of the phats board..could you kindly

explain more of it fat30..i would really appreciate it buddy...thanks..

as i said the psp has 3 pins for the battery, negative positive and one for a serial connection (i.e. the chip that holds the code the one that gets changed when you make a pandoras battery).

you cant wire the + and - to the psp's power supply because the psp will simply not boot up as there is no serial number / code this is why you need the little pcb that has all of the relevant chips on from a psp battery, without it you cant make this mod work.

i also said that you could wire the battery to the ac input as the psp does not require a serial number / code for that connection, although this would mean that psp would think it was charging or plugged into an ac and then you couldnt plug the ac adapter in to chanrge the battery.

basically you need the pcb out of a psp battery otherwise it wont work and then you would have to wire that up so that there would be a serial connection.

i basically explained all this before, if this is still confusing then tell me and ill make a little diagram with some simple explanations for you.

you could just wire the identical cellphone batteries in parallel to the psp phat battery PCB couldnt you?

in series to the pcb board would work but as i said you need the pcb to make any battery work with the psp, hell you could have a car battery that was restricted to psp standards but you would still need the pcb for it to work.

you could just wire the identical cellphone batteries in parallel to the psp phat battery PCB couldnt you?

The easyist way to do this is to get a phatty batt, open it up, remove the battery part (blatent silver slab). Get two IDENTICAL 3.6v cellphone batterys and wire them in parallel then to where the orignal battery slab was soldered on the battery powerboard.

NOTE:

-Wiring identical batteries in SERIES doubles the voltage (volts)
eg. with 2 3.6v 700mAh

~  +[3.6v]+[3.6v]   ~

~resulting: 7.2v 700mAh (keep in mind psp runs at 3.6 battery and/or 5v charge socket)

-Wiring identical batteries in PARALLEL doubles the CURRENT (Milliamp hours)
eg. with 2 3.6v 700mAh
      I +[3.6v]- I
      I +[3.6v]- I
      I              I
~resulting: 3.6volts 1400mAh Milliamp hours means running at one milliamp it can run for 1400 hours (for above example) or at 700 milliamps it could run for 2 hours, you understand.

sorry about confusing diagrams I don't know how to make em.

@@ I think it should work because the batteries are interchangeable on the slim n phat so there is no reason why the circuit board should not work.

yeah the circuit board would work from a slim battery, i actually pandorised my slim battery by using my fat as the slim battery can still make the connections even though it doesnt fit properly but that is another story.

I'll make you a diagram when i get time either today or tomorrow.

slim battery will not power the psp, but the pcb with different battery should work.

also, the pcbs will be different, but if you just attach the + and - of the new battery to where the original ones were, it should be fine.

O_o a slim battery will power the psp what are you on about, do you have any reason to say it doesnt or any proof as i have reason and proof behind what i said as i have done it!

either a pcb out of a slim or a fat psp will work, they have no reason to change how they work so they didnt they changed the way the code on the battery effects what the psp does but that is irelevant that diagram is coming soon.

I mean that a slim battery will not power a Phat psp. the slim battery has less mah. And i do have proof since my brother can use my Phat battery in his slim psp. but i cannot use his slim battery in my Phat PSP.
