for a switched power supply for the CG wireless controller. use the following diagram....using these points, the leds will turn on/off when the controller does, to save battery life.

switched power supply is exactly what you need if the 3.0V available from the CG controller is either under powered or too low of a voltage.  Switching power supplies come in a variety of flavors, but the main flavors are capacitively switched powers supplies (for relatively low draw applications) or inductively switch power supplies (cover wide variety of applications but can be more design intensive)

I am assuming you would like to see a 5.0V supply that turns on with the controller, and I suggest researching the capacitive switching power supply that is designed to work from either a Li-ion source (3.3v and down to 0.8v) sometimes AA batteries will be a suggested power source as well.  there may exist small premade solution that will work for your application.

Around here a switched power supply is ofter reffered to as a power supply that is switched on and off with the controller, if that is what you mean then modded matts post should be what your after.

never get credit for any of my pics.  mike steals all the credit, you buttmunch.  lol  joking...

here is the switched +V  i use on both matrix and cg as the same point on both models is switched +v.
the point you want to use is TP 4  (TP = TEST POINT)

TP 4 IS ON THE BACK OF THE PCB AND IS IN THE SAME SPOT ON BOTH CG AND MATRIX...

oh god some one give him some credit .. for his pics ...

and the TP4 point is only 2.0V voltage .. so don't hook up no blue / white or UV to that or it won't even turn on
