Had to update my COD4 today to get online with a 1.4 FW update 12mb and now the rapidfire controllers I bought off ebay don't work. "bummer" I didn't really use them much but my boys were disappointed.

COD4? That's odd. I wonder why they'd do it now. I'll have to test my mods out.

Ha I guess Infinitry Ward finally got off their asses and patched it. They did patch COD5 a long time ago

Yes, they didn't just patch it though. It's a full game block, not just an online filter. Even try it in campaign mode single player, it doesn't work there. They've erraticated it all.

when you say that it doesn't work anymore, do you mean that all the buttons don't respond in the XMB menu?  If that is the case, you may have a 3rd party controller.
I bought a few white DS3 controllers and found out that they were bootleg. They worked at first but then after the update, they don't work anymore.

As far as rapid fire controllers on official sixaxis and DS3s, mine still works on COD4, COD5, and the CODMW2.

They don't work because they put a speed cap on the shooting at around 8 shots per second. So unless you can adjust your rapid fire then it's not going to work on call of duty.

yes, there is that speed cap on COD5, but the OP mentioned COD4.
last time i played it (2 weeks ago maybe) it was still working.
COD4 didn't a cap either so I was turning it up to about 20shots per second
