assistance would be appreciated, as two months of searching for the answer has yielded nothing
i am trying to install windows 7 in an upgrade from vista 32-bit to windows 7-32bit
it unfortunately has to be an upgrade because windows vista backup is NOT working (i don't know why, but the option isn't there) so i don't have much choice in easily backing up the multitude of files there
like the title says: install will fail (essentially hang/freeze for hours on end) at the final step of "Completing Installation"
it freezes for hours, im forced to reboot and roll back to vista every time
i have no USB devices plugged in, if anyone thinks its that,
the CD was burned at a low speed and has successfully installed (as a test to confirm it wasn't the CD) on other machines/ a virtual machine in OSX
my computer is a MacBook Pro 3,1 (Santa Rosa)
nVidia geforce 8600m GT
4 Gigabytes of RAM
320 Gigabytes of hard drive space (split evenly betwixt Mac and Windows OSes)
2 months have gotten me nowhere... help?
thanks in advance,
noah
