PSP 2000 disguised as PSP 3000

I was wondering, can I use a PSP 3000 faceplate on a PSP 2000 and vice versa?

Can you use a 3000 backplate with a 2000 or would you need to dremmel?

Well I'm going to get a white PSP 2000, the darth vader edition, install custom firmware on it, and put a white 3000 faceplate and umd door on it, and get a regular white battery cover. Then, it'll look just like a white 3000. But doesn't the white 3000 housing have a different texture? The white 2000 housing is glossy, but is the 3000 housing glossy? I want a hacked 2000 that looks JUST like a 3000.

depends on where you're buying the housing.
I know the silver Dealextreme psp 3000 UMD door in NOT glossy.
was gonna do a 2000-3000 conversion but the umd door didn't match my OEM (glossy) silver housing.
The faceplates and OEM 3000 parts should be glossy though.

Thanks. My friend has a 3000 PSP and he will give me his UMD door and faceplate. I am going to get silver housing for the 2000 and give him the 2000 PSP UMD door and faceplate. His 3000 will look like a 2000 and my 2000 will look like a 3000. I want to trick people that I have a 3000 PSP with custom firmware  :laughing: I'm gonna install custom firmware on the 2000. It is darth vader edition so it has TA-085v2 mobo, which is hackable.

Let me clear this all up

Faceplate will work on either one. Just remember to put the mic hole on the 2000 faceplate
3000 doors will not fit on a 2000 correctly. they Don't shut securely and fall loose, but Still can be used,but not recommended
2000 doors will fit on a 3000 perfect
3000 backplates will not fit in a 2000 unless they are the luanch 3000's backplates
2000 backplates will fit but require a bit of dremeling
Also, the batt covers are diffrent from the 3000 and 2000. The 2000 in rounder and flat. The 3000 curves down. It will look very odd.
All of 3000 the colors are not glossy,except the White and black ones

I know becuase I have worked with 4 diffrent 3000's and A bunch Of slims
