Help!!!!!!

i was putting lights on my xbox and when i was wireing it to a 12v spot a spark came out and the fan dose not want to turn on. can i fix this please help me.

i touched the heat sink with the 12v spot and thats how it sparked HELP ME

YOU DONT EVER WORK ON A 360 WHILE ITS ON!!!!!!!
you are goig to have to solder the fans to 12v, 7v or a 5v spot

what you gotta do it find a 12v output or 7v or 5v as stated by treemty
unscrew your xbox from the metal case and solder the fans to the 12v pinouts on the bottom of the mobo by the power input
i forgot which pins it was
but those should work
worked for me

seeing as it sparked make sure your fans even work at all and hope you didnt pwn what ever was under the heat sync

ouch......

evan if the fans still work when wired to a 12v... the console may still think there not working and shut off after a few mins (1 red light) as there is some sort of power issue in it. ie you shorted out the fans standard supply. and blow something....
......this happened to a freind of mine who saw one of my console and wanted to try it himself. he was using the fans supply for som leds and shorted the wire on the mo board cage.
his fans stopped working..

so i took it. wired the fan to the 12v under the motherboard they work fine but now eveytime it gets turned on.. it'll work for a few mins till the fans would kick in properly....(running from the standard supply..) then its get's 1 red light and shuts down.........


so yeah you could of completely  :censored: your console.

Stop typing in all caps.

Spurgle has it right (well, everyone else does too...).
If it doesn't work wiring to 12v, then you're screwed.

Let this be a lesson to you.
Use some common sense, and don't work on electronics while they're on.
That's the first [unwritten] rule of modding and electronics.

Most likely not as spurgle said, but check the secondary error code and tell us what it is.
