well....if you have comcast/at&t internet Mcafee is free.

but if you want a good scanner (free)/great VP ($15 a year im pretty sure) go with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

McAfee is a resource hog. Use Microsoft Security Essentials or AVG... both are good and free
  you look like a carrot.
My nickname at school is carrot cake, because i can't get tan. I get orange. and my face is shaped like a carrot. And i make a mean carrot cake.

For free, always use AVG.  McAfee isn't bad.  That's what I have.  Works well, but the best free is AVG.

Had norton for a time, did not like it.
I suppose though since it says keep it legal or be banned no one is allowed to post links to cracked protection? lol

no illigal information of the such cannot be posted on the forum..besides, when it comes to AV a free one would be better then one without update support

we have:

- AVG
- Norton
- Norman
- Avast

It's because of it's work.

AVG would be enough for you though

Just a tip, don't use free trials because I once used McAfee trial version and then tried to install the full version and had to go through a lot of trouble to install the full version.

Good advice.

There are enough free (full) AV programs out there that you shouldn't need to use a free trial. Alternatively places like Fry's and Newegg commonly have deals where you can buy full versions of non-free AV software that comes with a rebate that makes it almost free.
