Anyone familiar with Eyefinity?
« on: January 18, 2010, 07:02:07 AM »
Since I'll be getting a Radeon 5970, I wanted BenQ V2200s set up through Eyefinity, but I also want to be able to have a 4th monitor (my TV) set up as an extended desktop.
The Radeon 5970s have Dual DVI ports and a DisplayPort...port.

This is the different  configurations you can have for Eyefinity.

Would there be a way that I could setup all 3 BenQs to use HDMI (They have HDMI and VGA) and then use a DVI to HDMI adapter for my TV?

Alright thanks.

I was thinking of splitting the DP to 3 DP and using DP to DVI adapters to connect to my monitors.

I KNOW DP can be split and daisy chained. I can't find any splitters though. Mind helping out? lol

edit:
A quick visit to wikipedia says only DP 1.2 supports daisy chaining. The other versions support splitting though, I think.

edit2:
The 5970 can drive VGA, DP, HDMI, and DVI using passive adapters as long as the signal isn't being taken up already.
Could I use an HDMI splitter along with a DP to HDMI adapter? Or would that just extend all desktops and stretch them?

I need to split the signal, no matter what it is, to HDMI or DVI. I need to be able to drive 4 monitors (3 through Eyefinity using HDMI or DVI and 1 through HDMI separate as an extended desktop).

huh. Seems like a good alternative to something like this: http://www.ostendo.com/crvd/

Although... imagine an Eyefinity setup with 3 CRVD monitors
