Not not though...lol
I will be going to Africa next year February.

It's a special internship from school. We are going to learn african people the basics about cars and howto maintain them. We will travel from Den Bosch (The Netherlands) to Gambia. It's a 8000KM drive.
We need to buy a used car (4WD) and make it ''africa ready''.
Like:
- Bigger tired
- Better suspension
- Bullbar
- Extra lights

That kind of stuff. Each person needs to raise 4000 Euro in total, so we can pay for the car and the staying in africa.
This will be my internship and my end test for this school and then ill be done!

This is a once in a lifetime experience.
We are still not sure if we can go, we first need to be sure everyone can go (2 of the 3 asked their parents and can go).
There will be going 20 cars from a lot of schools thoughout The Netherlands, and a few girls.

So, what do you guys think about this? I think it's awesome to drive trough the sahara and that kinda stuff!

We are thinking about buying a Toyota 2.5 or 3 liter V6 Diesel.
Ofcourse manual with low gearing. I think it will have like 200.000KM on its gauge, but that isn't much for a diesel.
It has good milage to!

I am asking some really wealthy buisness peope to sponsor us. I love my connections!

It's allmost impossible to stop that car, it keeps on going, and going.

This sounds amazing! Seriously I love going over seas. However learning from somebody that learns people is scary. >.> I've always been taught by somebody that teaches people... XD Teasing. id have a rifle. not for people for some of teh animals. a 9 wouldnt take down a lion very well.
get a rifle. but find a good place to hide it
oh wait do they allow u to have guns over there? legally

Wow Deda , this sounds like awesome fun ! Hmmm.... preparations for the Sahara , Sat Phone (GPS is ok , but not necessary , local guides will be able to help you MUCH more)... Oh yeah , and carry gallons and gallons of water :P
lol... forgot that the trip is about an year away

I don't think there are too many lions in the desert, besides in that region of Africa I'd be more concerned about some of the people than the animals... the region is known for bandits and human traffickers after all...

guys, guys.
I've been to the sahara like 3 times, i know how it is. We have like a list of 6 pages that we need to go trough. We need to prepare the car with new shockabsorbers and that kinda stuff and need a tent/food/medicene and that kinda stuff.
we wont need a rifle but i am taking my kantana with me (a huge bush knife).
@ laxyboy: i allready got the money, and i am still getting like 3000 extra from my uncle...haha

i still need to wait a year thoug. but a hell of a lot preperations need to be taken.

That's awesome dude,I went to Zambia last year where we built water pumps and renovated the orphanage,it was an eye-opening experience (to say the least).

This MIGHT be the car we are going to buy.
it's like 3000 euro.

it's a Diesel and drove 252.435KM. This may seem like a lot but diesels can go on and on....
it's an awesome car, and my granddad knows that company very well.
My granddad is prob. going to pay for the car and me and mikey (my friend who is going with me)
are going to fit it with new shockabsorbers/springs/lights/timing-belt and that kinda stuff.

Alot of corruption over there,don't bring anything electronic like ipods or custom will take it for no reason and won't give them back to you,also try to bring only the currency that you need,or put it in a bank account,go to one of the rich parts and withdraw it there.Had one of my psp's taken by the b*astards!

I can weld pretty good so that aint a problem.

its still a year away, but in 8 weeks I'll know who will go and what the plans are. then i can buy a car and start prepairing it.

The car will be bought in like 8 or 9 weeks, because than ill know who will travel with me. A few guys are up for the challange but i first want to know if they are really going for it and not just bluffing.
I dont mind who is going with me, they are all good mates.

There will be 2 persons in each car, because the most 4WD cars only have 2 seats and otherwise the car has to be a lot bigger because of the stuff we need to take with us.
