USB Xbox 360 Controller??
« on: February 11, 2010, 11:27:07 PM »
Well, normally when you try to do a mod almost always you use a PIC (for example 12f683 for R/F, led fader....)

As these code are changing periodically sometimes you have to open your controller again, remove the pic and put it back.

a good mod would be try to put a USB,miniUSB or another port to update the code without open your controller. would be fantasctic!!

I give this idea if somebody knows if can do it and how to do it?

This can be achieved with the use of a bootloader on the pic, but as far as i know 12f683's don't support it and all the code would have to be rewritten for other pics.

You can simply install an ICSP header on the outside of your controller (put it female so it will look better)

this idea has been done with such projects as the viking, or hazers final, this idea works great for changing rapid fire speeds, however when you change a function of the chip, such as adding a led indicator, or a led chaser, to safely do so it needs added resistors and different wiring etc. and with the microchip market releasing new products all the time to keep up with todays tech, we cannot limit ourselves to one chip.

@ Squeck, the 12f683  has ICP functionality

no, I should have been more clear, these mods are far more complex then the normal open source mods we have released to the public. the two examples I listed abouve are both products for sale. I am not sure if hazer is still selling his kits or not. I know viking is selling thiers for around 35 usd.

Just to chip in quickly, maybe there is some way to put the chip into the battery pack, or some other way it could be easily removed.
