The Next Chapter of my PS3
« on: April 09, 2010, 06:02:31 PM »
Cooling is the next step in the evolution of my PS3, it's been 4 months since I took everything apart and put Arctic Silver 5 on the CPU and GPU. Now it's time for some fans.

The List:

(2) 80mm blue LED fans (exhaust)
(4) 40mm fans (intake)

Here are some pics of the install and final product. Enjoy....

Not sure what else there is to do with this one, im out of ideas, any suggestions??

I don't really like that the fans stick out, but as long as you like it then it's great lol.
Keep it up, you're like the only ps3 modder here. We need more action!

How about a case window?

A case window wouldn't do much, it would show off the power supply and the blu-ray drive (which aren't pretty in the first place). And the whole motherboard is covered in a heatsink. I got an idea from a friend to make the LEDs along the Playstation 3 sign to sequence by using a 4017 and a 555 timer.
I could have made this mod better buy making the side intake fans internal, but id need smaller fans, some like 20mm or so. Not sure if they make them. Also I could have done (3) 60mm fans at the top instead of the 80mm

Putting those fans look ugly. That would kill the psu and kill your ps3 rather then save the ps3. Also, those fans look ugly

Also, I told w gaming to post that in your youtube for me

I played 7 hours of rockband/MW2 with some people today with no hiccups. Everything is runnin stable. The only place I could see plexi in a PS3 would be the back of it, since its flat.

Or if you put PS3 verticle you could put plexi on bottom...still you would see a giant  :censored: fan  :dntknw:
