Matrix Controller will only work with AA Battery Pack

Hello,
I was hoping someone could help with this. I have a Matrix controller that will only turn on with a AA battery pack. It will not turn on with the rechargeable and the powerpoint on the controller by the crystal isn't putting out any power. The power points for the AA does though. Does anyone know how to get it powered back up with the battery pack? I was wonding if the resistor that is attached to the negative point could be fried or the transistor up above. Not sure what to check.
