DIY Bench PSU
« on: December 27, 2010, 04:49:58 PM »
ok i thought it was time i had a reliable bench power supply as part of my new workbench im working on

its going to be based on an atx PSU

first question, any objections, suggestions, improvements, problems with/to this adjustable voltage regulator circuit?

secondly, any ideas for voltage and amp meters?

here is somethiing i just bought to use for different voltages to test and use a atx power supply to power it .

I found this thought it would be useful for testing different things and testing.

is this along the same lines as what your going to build? Or building a power supply ?
Maybe i am confused :dntknw:

Same thing.

LM317 is just a variable Zener diode regulator.

It's like a 7835 regulator used in a shunt-regulator function to control the output voltage.

hyper's circuit is cheaper and has voltage control.

since you're good at programming pics you might like this circuit: http://electronics-diy.com/70v_pic_voltmeter_amperemeter.php

dont know where you got drills from? but my origional design included an PC atx psu the above circuit then runs off the atx's 12v rail and provides adjustable voltage selection
