will psp 3000s hardware fit inside a psp 2000 housing?

Hey all!
I really need to fit  (or transplant if you will) a psp 3000's insides to a psp 2000's housing. Will it work? Dont flame me please for not searching, i did find an old thread about this but it wasnt clear to me. Basically i want to fit all the electronics trom a 3000 to a 2000's plastic parts. Please respond.

I don't know why this is becoming popular all of the sudden, I'm guessing you guys are buying the wrong housing for you psp on accident, unless you are buying a color available only on a certain model. It IS possible, a couple people have done it, but it isn't just going to fit in perfectly. You are going to have to probably dremel a few things, glue some things, just be ready to make some stuff fit. All that I can say is good luck, and If you are successful with your case swap, please post so we can see!

I didn't buy the wrong housing, i have a bricked 2000 and a scratched and torn 3000. I saw somewhere a clip with a psp 3000 with a full clear 2000 housing

i read on here someone did it but had a problem with the nub (analog stick)

I'd seriously stay with the 3000 housing, but if you really can't, I'm positive you can do it. And I'm sure the problem had to do with placement of the analog stick, the original stick had 4 metal pads that had a rubber insert with copper traces going through it that touched the board, the new 3000 has an analog stick with a ribbon cable, so I am pretty sure they are in different places. Like I said, to make the 3000 analog stick fit, you are probably going to have to sand away some things, or use an epoxy and fill places to make it high enough, I've never done this myself.

 :help:I'm in the same situation  and yes before you get on me for posting this 5 years latter just remember when the psp was top of the line . Like i said i'm in the same situation but vise versa i would like to fit a psp 2000 in the 3000 housing and i can't find any guides. So, if you know of one please PM me

Most the psp modders have all retired from acidmods sadly. I did a little digging around and found a old post from NWA4life and I'll quote his post

"Let me clear this all up

Faceplate will work on either one. Just remember to put the mic hole on the 2000 faceplate
3000 doors will not fit on a 2000 correctly. they Don't shut securely and fall loose, but Still can be used,but not recommended
2000 doors will fit on a 3000 perfect
3000 backplates will not fit in a 2000 unless they are the luanch 3000's backplates
2000 backplates will fit but require a bit of dremeling
Also, the batt covers are diffrent from the 3000 and 2000. The 2000 in rounder and flat. The 3000 curves down. It will look very odd.
All of 3000 the colors are not glossy,except the White and black ones".

I don't know if this helps at all. Its no toutorial and I'm sure u will have a he'll of a time trying to find one. U will just have to grind it out by good old fashion modding with trial by error. That or just buy New housing for the psp 2000 and call it good. At most you'll only be out about 14$.
