How do i mod a ps3 controller to have rapid fire without using a mod chip?

yes as famus said you need the chip as you gota set the speeds as with blasters with chip not programmed had you firering fast the went slow good thing they patched it but with the ones being done now work great if you dont want to do one just buy a rf kit from ebay just be careful which you get as some are just none coded chips.or use hypers code and do your own.

PS3 rapidfire is 5 time more complicated that Xbox360 or PS2 555 timer chip rapidfire. The Playstation3 controllers have several different supply points for different buttons on the controller.

there are networks of resistors that divide the voltage up so its tricky to mod since each button has it's own special supply voltage.

The hard part is finding the (+) and (-) for each individual button's supply to connect your mod chip. Its hard to explain and I really don't fully understand Sony's design.

There is a tut around to do it with a 555 but it's still a chip, can't do the 2 wire job like the old xbox one

this is actually not as complicated as it seems, they all share a common line. RF can be achived on ps3 with as simple as three wires. use hypers code from the free code section. ps3 RF is all about timing.

my man gblaster used a 555 timer and NPN transistor to achieve RF on PS3.  I would agree that there is no point as a preprogrammed micro is much simpler, but before people took the time to code a chip that worked (using just R2) you had to use either a transistor in parralell to the button (RF on External pushbutton) or you had to cut a trace and use a transistor (possibly PNP) to make the connection all the time and when RF is on you pulse that connection (RF on Controller button)


This is not much different then the early 555 RF on Xbox, people are scared of PS3 because they didnt understand the signals and there isnt as large of a market for PS3 mods.   You are modulating a button that transmitts its signal through a single wire just like xbox CG.... if you controll that wire you control RF or if you can mimick that button you controll RF.

the chip itself off ebay will cost about 5 pounds witch in america = about 10 dollars i think

sorry my bad,,, i consider no mod chip to be no microcontroller... so now i understand what you really were asking for... you have to use something in order to produce the RF signal, there is no signal onboard that you can already use like there was on one version of the 360 controller.
