Hello All I am a begginer here...and i would love to learn many things from you because last night i checked all your post about modding and all...and i was like holy crap..is this possible..

so i just want few of you peoples to guide me in modding my ps3 controller as i am begginer and wat all things will required in this process

hey youll need solder skills id suggest learning on some old pcb or some bread board the copper stuff
flux isnt a must but helps alot
soldering iron if your doing rapid fire youll need
a pic programmer you can buy these or there are some on ebay etc the best for begginers to buy is a pic kit 2 well priced and great if your uk id suggest shopping around ebay is a good spot and farnell uk or you can make a diy programmer tutorial on here 
youll need wire id suggest kynar 30awg ebay 1 pound for 5 metres and finally tact switches dont be fooled with tact switched make sure to get some with a nice long tip on the button
youll need microchips witch are called "12f683" if you go direct to microchip.com you can get free samples and another thing you can have a really handy tool is a dremel multi tool (about 25pound) off ebay and dont forget some solder and a solder sucker

do this testing on breadboards or pcb's

I've never personally used flux for soldering but i have for welding and i believe you apply it to the areas you wish to solder before you begin soldering them

I use flux for soldering all the time. it helps to draw the solder onto what ever you are soldering. put the flux on the two points to be soldered together and then solder it together and it helps to draw the solder onto the joint instead of the iron.

for example if I'm soldering a wire onto a PCB trace, I scrape the solder mask (the green stuff covering up the trace) off of the trace, and strip the end of the wire, and then apply a small amount of flux to the cleaned trace and a little to the stripped end of the wire. put the wire to the trace, apply the iron to the joint and when it's heated up apply the solder (you'll know it's heated up cause the flux will melt, bubble and smoke just a little)... flux is especially handy when tinning wires or soldering multistrand wire as it will help pull the solder into the wire making a nice clean joint which the solder completely penetrates...

Most people don't consider flux to be a necessity (mostly because they use it without even really knowing they do. most people use a rosin core solder, the rosin core is rosin flux in the center of the solder), but personally I do, it makes nice clean strong joints.
