My Xbox 360 Computer Project (Video Logs)
« on: April 07, 2011, 05:13:25 PM »
This the mod I was originally working on for the mod off but once I found out about having to be anonymous in the whole contest I didn't feel like completing it for the fact that I wouldn't be known til the very end on who did the mod. But anyways, I've decided to start a video log on my progress from where I left off in my mod off thread. Here's the first video update:

It always helps to like/subscribe to my videos ;) But thank you, I appreciate it. I originally got the idea from another member here named Mogler.

Hey monkey its lookin pretty sweet. One thing i would highly recommend is to not use bondo as a main filler. Once you have it sanded down, its going to crack and break. Go to autozone or a local store that sells a fiberglass kit. Fill and mold with the fiberglass then use the bondo to fill in minor imperfections in the fiberglass. Then sand it and it should look damn near perfect.

Thanks a ton crazy, I appreciate the additional info. As for finishing this project though I'm just gonna use bondo. My next project I will certainly look into getting a fiberglass kit.

Dude bondo works like a charm for modding. you can pretty much use it on anything hahah i need to get some more of it for testing new stuff.

Seriously Guys???

Fiberglass Bondo - Although I would not buy it from here...

Also, nice mod! I was wondering where you went in the mod-off...

At my old job we got a pallet of this stuff in on accident. We called the people to have them come get it and they said jsut to keep it.. it wasnt worth them driving that far to get... so my supervisor said taht whoever wants it can take it...

i took 2 cases (24 individual cans)

so, my friends and i were bored and we put nitrile gloves on and mixed up some of this stuff, then continued to coat our hands with it and put nails and random stuff protruding from the bondo.

we called them "killer props"

it was great.

as you add metal, the bondo gets REALLY HOT.. it made our hands sweat a lot on the inside of the gloves. the hand things came out pretty good too... was a fun summer day!

If you live in the states, ill ship you one for the cost of a flatrate usps box. (I'm not sure how long the shelflife is on this stuff, but last time i used some it worked fine)

You installed Ubuntu because you were lazy? Lol how does that make you lazy... you still installed an OS?

What if you bought a hard drive to run only your operating system thats about 8gb for system files etc and another one to store the other files so it runs faster? just a thought.

I'll upload a pic later of everything once it was all hooked up and mounted in so you can see how I did everything. But basically to hold in the power supply all I did was screw 2 screws into the power supply from the case. Unlike Mogler where he screwed them on side of the bracket where the harddrive would sit I screwed mine into the side where the power plug is. Thanks for your feedback as well.

Thanks as well Sammy. And yes I did notice my stomach was showing when I viewed the screen, I tried to shift out of the picture but then the backround popped up and you really couldn't see it anymore. Thanks for noticing though haha

my only beef is, whats the point of putting a PC in a 360 case if you arent gonna make it look like a 360?

Thanks hyper, and the reason I chose to modify the looks of the xbox was to make it more unique I guess. Plus it was something to have fun with.

Thanks to you too denali, I appreciate the compliments everyone.

Wow, very good job monkey. Like i said before, i really like the look of that faceplate. You should get some blue cathodes or some blue leds and light up those slots.

Thanks everyone! I originally planned on lighting it up some, crazy, but I didn't have any of the LEDs or anything. Plus I just wanted to get the thing together and done with haha. But yea I originally wanted to have the front vents along with the side vent lit up. Thanks a ton Mogler! Hey yours was supposed to keep originality so you have that over me :) No problem with the shoutouts too, you deserved them for giving me the idea along with some help when I first started.
