Questions about modding/banned consoles.
« on: October 05, 2011, 07:38:45 PM »
Okay, here's a question for you guys...

I want to mod a 360. I am *not* concerned about getting banned from LIVE, as I mostly play single player games/campaigns. What I do want to know is whether or not you can still play DLC on a banned console. I am thinking that if I take my hard drive to a friend's house to purchase and download DLC, that will be okay since they ban the console, not the Gamertag. But the real question is whether or not I will still be able to PLAY the DLC on a banned console. Does anyone know?

i think you should be able to play it if you do it that way because they ban your console

They corrupt the file of the gamertag also, so this could cause an issue.

how are you "modding" your xbox?

To the best of my knowledge, no you would not be able to play DLC on the banned Xbox.  DLC is protected content. When you download it on an initial xbox, any profile on that xbox can freely use that content.  When you move the content to another xbox, however, you must log into xbox live in order to use the content.  Since you would be downloading it on your friends, any profile on that xbox could use it, but any other xbox you would have to be logged into xbox live to use it. (This is how it was a while back, unless things changed.)

^ correct, however if you have a jtag, you can download all the content you can handle and transfer it to the jtag and play away.

Are you 100% sure that works?

If it does that would be amazing. I didn't want to buy the console before I knew for sure I could do it. That will be sweet. Thanks.

if xbox 'A' buys the content then xbox 'A' can play the content with out being connected to live however if you take the content purchased on 'A' and try to play it on 'B' then you need to be connected to live in order to play the contect

this is true, but I have a jtag and a program called x360. I have every arcade game released over the past year. donwload the trial game on normal xbox, move the trial game to memory stick, plug memory stick into jtag xbox, run x360. all games unlocked for offline (full versions)

buy the jtag from rodent. there is some soldering and programming involved. there are tuts all over the net and I am working on a tut.

But that is a little different than DLC for a game.  You would have to find someone that has uploaded the DLC to the internet in order to download it for your JTAG.
