xbox dvd drive Slim (need Help) electronic ?

I have a Slim dvd drive took it apart due to wont power up noticed this is missing I take it its a capacitor? or something else? if its a cap can i add a cap compatible to this ? hard to read maybe someone can tell me exactly what it is? or where i can get one. its missing and hard to read numbers on the part. please help if  possible

Thanks FOOKz for reply ... If you look closely there is a + sign on the lower right corner and it says C6 next to it on the left side where its soldered.  If its a cap what could i do to replace it long enough to  power it up and retrieve the key ?

id say try just a 10uF cap, positive to where the + is, etc.
i dont think SMD capacitors are large capacity so 10uF should be alright.

added a cap, and no signs of life thinking the resistor before it might be shot, got all my voltages at the pin where it plugs in to the power connector on the dvd drive just no activity after that, need to check the voltage other places to see whats happening thanks guys hope to get something working to get the key off it

I highly doubt that is 10uF it could be more like 0.1uF or 100nF (same thing, smaller)

Generally speaking, you do not want to just guess at a capacitor value, if a capacitor is in a circuit you usually have to match the value, putting a different value in it will not work (within a tolerance level, usually 20%). I would recommend looking at another drive of the same model, and seeing what it has on there.

Thanks guys for your help.. I been looking for a new board... I can't find a better pic. So might be a while before I can get this fixed. If anything I can extract the key from the mobo for now. Going to work on it some more and research some more also.

Find the value of it from another board then simply replace it with a non SMD equivalent

I have a cap like that but the voltage is different its 100 8v instead of 6v think it will hurt or should i get the right one?  its off a cg wireless controller.

It should be fine, just don't use one rated for less voltage than the original.

Edit: well added the cap and still no luck , still wont power up... and I dont see anything else that looks bad other then maybe the voltage regulator behind the cap.... I have power to the cap but just doesnt power up so will have to find another way or something to get this drive to work. extract the key later using a cmod chip, will update later.
