Why is it so hard to find a Coder???
« on: February 08, 2012, 05:10:50 PM »
Hi,

I know im new so that will probably hold me back from finding one of you guys to do my coding which i can understand but i have been reading through alot of posts on here tonight and it seems all the ones from people wanting a rapidfire code for business use are told that the coders have gone MIA or just ignored.

I dont get it...why do coders not want to make codes for the eBay businesses etc anymore?

I really see there is no point in asking one of you guys to make me a code but is there any chance you can point me in the right direction to someone who will?

For some reason the person who used to make my codes has disappeared too..is there some new pact or something?

well i am going to put it as i had been told.
Why make something for someone else benefit.Would you want to make something for somebody for free so they can turn around and sell it for hundreds.Without you getting a cent.
Some people are willing to pay but its either low amounts or they never pay. And some of the coders like to be recognized for what they have did which they never get.
If the codes on here werent being abused there would be alot more. And there would be alot more willing to help.Even tho most codes  are out of date because they dont want it to get like it used to be.

And as for pointing you in a direction its gonna cost you about 500 to get one made.Just because most know how much you will make.I suggest you make your own.People around here will be more than glad to help you make one as long as you do most of the work!!

Very nicely put. I would like to add to this. From the coders perspective, we hear "i want someone to make me a 50 mode, stealth code with all the stuff you can find on the big websites for features: Jitter, drop shot, etc. I am willing to pay you $200!!!!! I will sell controllers for $150 each."

As a coder, why don't I just make the code and do it myself? It would be easier, and smarter, for me to find someone else to do the wiring part under my terms. It doesnt make sense to work for any of the people who ask for codes.

Personally, I gave up trying to figure a way to stay in control of this stuff. What I have tried to do is get people to make better codes than what everyone else offered. It is sickening to see people just vomit out the same crappy template which is only geared at sales instead of functionality. Only Viking actually went a step further than the rest.

Don't be jealous your not half as smart. I hate ****tards like you. An ignorant redneck. Your nothing but a posing ******. Get the **** out of here, really, your claim to fame is an open source rapid fire code? You make me laugh. You think you have control over the modding market?  You couldn't create what I can and do. You are too ignorant with your outrageous assumptions and accusations. [/Quote]

as the two above have quite nicely stated no one wants to do it when there work is being exploited for the money quickly go take a look at ebay look at all the codes who people claim to be the best at and have the best code better then anyone else  about 70 percent of the codes are from here from our once huge team of coders yea they still lurk in the shadows but they dont do em much anymore accept maybe personal use because they relized people were making a killing off the codes they put months of work and testing in

[gmod]please dont swear, this is a family site [/gmod]

Thats for the replies lads..

Yea i can completely understand, im sure id feel the same.

@Frosty: I get that but never would of expected the code for free, i paid £350 for my last code. And with the recognition, if my last coder had told me he wanted me to add his name to my page then i would of, never thought about it to be honest but i see your point.

Ive had a look through a few sites that teach the coding and it looks way to advanced for me to ever get the hang of..if you would of seen me in french/german lessons back in the day you would understand! haha Heck, i cant even use english properly and thats my main language!

If someone would make me a code id be more than happy to pay 500 for it and give them all the recognition they deserved and wanted.

@Hazer: Man i wish i could sell my controllers for $150! lol At the moment im selling my controller for £43 but thats only with around £10 profit on each one.

Again though, i completely agree with you and sure would feel the same. $200 for something i can only guess takes a hell of alot of work is a joke! If i were to only make that i would of told people to where to get of ages ago!

Is it not kind of the same for people who code websites, games etc.. they hardly get the amount they should compared to the people who are using it to sell or actually selling the item. Dont get me wrong..im with you that you dont get paid enough but when you think say  i pay 500 for a code, make 10 profit on each one ive got to sell 50 before i even start to make a profit.

Yeah Viking are the mutts nuts but they had to start somewhere too, im sure they wasnt like that at the beginning. Id love to have a load of coders on my payroll and be able to make the mods/controllers they do but at the moment that is just a pipe dream. Yeah sales is the main thing as it is with any business but if you spoke to some of my customers they would tell you how excellent my customer service and after care is. I get so many nice messages from people who have had bad experiences with other sellers but are 100% satisfied with the service they receive from me. Even months after the sale i would bend over backwards to keep my customer happy. So were not all the same.

And last but not least @Toadzilla: Not much to say really.. i understand your frustration but please see that were not all the same! Why would a modder pay upto 500 for a code that he didnt think was the best? Of course were going to say that..plus its a good selling point and a sign of respect to the coder.  imo anyway.

I never realised most codes came from the coders on this site..not really looked into coding, thats why i only found the site last night. My last coder messaged me on eBay asking if i wanted a new code making, thats how we met.

Anyway im going to wrap this up as ive gone on for long enough. Thanks for taking the time to explain things to me lads..i never knew that things were so bad for you guys. I do understand now and have even more respect for the work that you do and the time it takes.

That being said.. i am still after a code so if any of you want to talk business with me please send me a PM  or something. I can assure you im not a nob like the rest seem to be.. im just a guy trying to make a living while staying at home and looking after the kids.

Cheers

I hear where your coming from. I also want you to know where some of the others are coming from, too. There seems to be a little mix up between your question and what other people have done on this site. We listen to people ask/beg for codes so often, its hard to even read anything beyond the "i would like someone to write a code..." before hitting the 'back' button. Most people are asking for these codes for free. Your question was not that, nor was it asking for a code that you would pay for. You specifically asked where the coders for hire went. Toads answer hits home about how most of the coders who provided free code gave up on making any more since the code got abused.

Me personally, my code got abused from day one. And to this day, I really don't care. Well, in a small sense it seems unfair about how much money people did make off my codes and I never made any profit from it. But I expected it and never regretted it. What does bother me was the progression of Rapidfire Codes from the beginning. Here is what I mean:

Start: One mode, one speed, rapidfire only through the tact on the bottom of the controller. $25 for the kit.

Evil: One mode, one speed, RF on the trigger. $150 a controller.

Opensource: BMU2 and GP: 4 modes, you can change them by reprogramming the chip. $2 a chip.

Ebay: BMU2 sold for $20 a kit.

Evil/Silent/Gamermodz: 4 modes, controller sales only: $150 a controller.

Opensource: 8 modes (modified BMU only, everyone wants stealth): $0

Final Rapidfire: 1-4 modes, programmable through PC Serial port: $100 a controller, $20 a kit

Evil: Master mod (basically 4 codes shoved into one chip): $300 a controller.

Viking: First USB reprogrammable controller w/ glitches: $150 a controller, $35 a kit

Opensource: Flex (1-4 modes, burst, speed adjust, no glitches): $0

Ebay: 20 modes, simple glicthes (jitter): $15 a kit, $60 a controller.

Viking: Macro $200

The point I am making is that most people never tried to make a better code, they just wanted something to sell. At least Viking always provided something better. Even thier newest offering, while it seems like its stepping backwards, is really moving forward by giving the best bang-for-the-buck instead of only providing the top-of-the-line.

I know your not making alot of profit. But heres the cold hard truth: Your one of thousands of people who get into this game. For the level of code you can get your never going to be able to compete outside of only making peanuts on each controller. Because everyone else has the same thing to offer. If someone had the ability to make codes to set them apart, you can bet they are already part of the big websites.

Think about it, from where your coming from you would need to find someone who has the ability most others dont have and convince them to provide you something that makes the difference between $60 a controller, or $150. These few individuals would never simply 'be hired' to write code from a forum, they would go into business for themselves. Because instead of writing the code to your specifications for a few hundred dollars, they can write better code (trust me, most of whats out there really is a joke) and then they hire one of the thousands of 'installers' to do the labor and remain in complete control and command the profit of all sales on a product that is superior to everyone elses. THAT IS THE REASON YOU CANT HIRE CODERS NOW.

As for me, this is a hobby, I have been patiently waiting for someone to up the ante. Whats truly pathetic is that USB has been staring people in the face for over 2 years, and NO ONE has stepped up. Maybe its time I shake thing up again.

Hazer being one of the guys on this site who is in need of a coder and not for RF stuff, I have another perspective to look at. I am a builder. I am also a dreamer. I come up with a concept and then find out how to do it. Sometimes my ideas lead me to points where I need a coder to do what I want. I cant code. I do not have the life to let me learn something like that right now. I wish i could. I am a single parent of 2 kids and I run a business. Modding to me is like therapy. I am not here to make Rf controllers for people. I make mods that are different and/or useful. I am sick of seeing the poop pushed out over and over.
But, and here it is , every time I have asked for help I have been told to program myself. I learned a while ago to stick to my strong points, and programming is not one of them. I would so rather pay someone for their time (which would be a fraction of my time), to get done what needed to get done.
After all this is said, Hazer i respect your work a lot. and your rights to help where you see fit. But this site needs a coder back.
If your interested I have somethings I think a programmer could solve that are different and might even be fun.

I know that this is probably a dead thread, but I am a new member so...bear with me.

Hazer, I'm trying to shake things up. I came out with a reprogammable USB mod last year about this time. The code is user-generated via my PHP website.

And, CptChronic, I would be more than happy to write your code for you. It is 100% my own. I feel like it pushes the envelope of what guys are doing with the 12f683.

Just throwing it out there. Feel free to shut me down.
